Who are Water Ambassadors?

Water Ambassadors are students who take on active leadership roles in promoting water sustainability in their schools and communities. With support from education consultant Helen Tyas Tunggal and local council environmental staff, they design and deliver impactful initiatives focused on pollution prevention, water quality, and water conservation. Using creative messages like “Shorter showers sure save water” and “Only rain down our drain”, they raise awareness, foster responsible behaviours, and help build a culture of care and action for our shared vital water resources.

Water Ambassadors, curriculum-linked projects— Nudge the Sludge, Total Water Cycle Management, Clarence River Journey, and Clarence Wetlands—offer rich, student-centred learning experiences focused on water literacy, environmental stewardship, and active citizenship. These programs empower students to explore water conservation, pollution prevention, wetland ecology, and the sustainable management of water systems, connecting classroom learning to real-world environmental issues and local landscapes.
